my grievance is people who hear noises in their car, as a mechanic i'm obligated to ride with them to verify the "NOISE"
as we are walking out to their car they ask "do you want to drive" "no thanks"(its your noise you drive)
upon sitting in the car i put on my seatbelt (and they will look at me like i reminded them they forgot to say grace before a meal) then the driver will put their seatbelt on tipping their head to the right from 25 to 45 degrees(this apparently is the proper angle to hear the noise) then they turn down the radio obviously on to muffle the noise,
shift into reverse
and with their head still tilted back up, mind you they cant turn around or see into the mirror very well
After driving the approporiate time anywhere from 8 to 15 minutes- they say
"its not doing it now" we return to the shop the drivers head returns to the upright position,
i'll console myself thinking if this had been an actual emergency...
There are other variations, they'll say the car has to be turning, going over a bump on a dry day first thing in the morning and it only happened once while someone else was driving yada yada yada sometimes the car is dropped of and the wrong noise is fixed even better, because "its still doing it" "doing what? The noise i didnt hear in the first place
