Planning a Festivus partySubmitted by Fieberg on 1 December, 2005 - 11:13am.
I am planning a Festivus party this weekend for coworkers. I made a pole, sent out an "airing of grievances" form for people to fill out ahead of time, and am currently making up Feats of Strength Challenge cards (that will allow party-goers to challenge others to feats of strength). Here is where I need your help. I want to come up with interesting feats of strengths that will work for both adults and kids (there will be several small children ranging from 3 to about 8 and I think the challenges may help keep them entertained). So far, I have a list of things that would be easy to implement (e.g., thumbwrestling, leg wrestling, stare contest, perhaps a "holding ones breath contest"). Unfortunately, I think these feats are rather lacking in creativity. I am reaching out to the larger Festivus commuity for ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated (you can email me at johnfieberg@msn.com). Thanks! |

The universe gives Creedance to Festivus Its a Miracle
We have a genuine festivus miracle to celebrate this year. Winter Solstice falls on Festivus eve (Dec 22).
Its like the Universe has the given the nod to Festivus.
I was wondering...
Festivus is the last day of The Saturnalia (17th-23rd).
Is this always true?

I don't think you need to dilute the feats of strength!
They had it right in the Seinfeld episode...a good wrestling match is appropriate for all ages and genders.

check pages 69-72 of the book. Many creative FOS there.
BreathHolder
Hold each others' breath instead. Whomever gets another to pass out first wins.
Another Trenton Festivus!
In addition to the Festivusians included in the book, we can now add another Trentonian Festivus.
A Stetson writes:
My Story: festivus to me is a holiday where everyone gets together before they go on vacation or do whatever they do doing this time. i love festivus. we eat great german, italian, spanish foods, we tell each other all the ways they have disapointed people over the past year and acorse the feats of streanth {which i lost last year} it's a day for fun love and it's a holiday for the rest of us
Festivus Pigeon!
Petros Kolyvas, who is featured in the book ("Festivus: The Holiday for the Rest of Us") has added a new "traditional" Festivus food for Festivus Ought Six, the Festivus Pigeon. Shudder. He informs me that at his Festivus Party in Quebec (which is in Canada) they will serve "Festivus Pigeons. "They are," he writes, "small game birds (it's actually not be decided which bird will actually be used) individually packaged with a bacon/garlic stuffing.
